The UGC creator's guide to creating a media kit, setting rates, and attracting brand deals and collaborations with Snipfeed.

It was always @sociallyaziz’s dream to become an influencer - fast forward 7 months, she’s earning an income online collaborating with brands and teaching others about UGC marketing via her Snipfeed page.

From having no experience in marketing or creating content, Salha has gone on to earn a consistent income from brand deals alongside her Snipfeed monetization features. She's learned what makes the perfect partner for a brand campaign, how to pitch successfully and win deals and what rates to charge.

When Snipfeed launched the Media Kit feature, Salha got to creating her UGC portfolio in minutes. Levelling up her Media Kit as part of the Snipfeed Pro plan opened up new opportunities to diversify her income while offering paid 1:1 coaching to other online business owners and selling useful UGC resources.

Here’s advice Salha has for other UGC creators looking to win brand deals. Watch the video below and continue reading to create the perfect creator portfolio for yourself.

What is a Media Kit?

A media kit is a snapshot of who you are, what you do, and what you have to offer - all in one easily digestible format. If a brand looks at a media kit, they want to see examples of work. A Media Kit is like a portfolio, but without all the extra fluff, getting right down to the basics and presenting all the information a company needs to know about you.

Ultimately, the purpose of your media kit is to convince a brand that a) you’re the right fit for them, and b) you have the potential to grow their business and put them in front of the right audiences using your content creation skills and channels.

What do brands like to see on a Media Kit?

Your goal is to show you’re credible and showcase your experience in a way that stands out to the brand (this may require tweaking according to the style of business you’re pitching to). To show credibility, gain trust, and show that you have experience, aim to add:

  • Samples of your content (embed videos from YouTube, TikTok, and Reels directly into your Snipfeed media kit using the carousel feature)

  • Past brands you’ve collaborated with, along with examples of the content you worked on together - whether they’re gifted or paid projects

What key features should I add to my Media Kit?

  • Location tag: I use Snipfeed’s geotag feature on the top of my Media Kit to let brands know my location - this is important for considering postage times etc.

  • Hashtags: include your favorite topics and interests - this helps you match up with the right brands

  • Profile image: put a face to your brand!

  • Embedded content: the most important part. Show off your work! Whether you embed your best performing Tweets, Instagram feed images, or your favorite TikTok videos - this is the area your brands will be looking at to see if you’re a good fit

  • Rates cards: be transparent with your rates and lay out a few different options for brands. This way, they’ll know right away if you’re a good fit or not.

How can I score my first brand deals if I’m just starting out?

I’m all for gifted collaborations - they’re a great first stepping stone for getting started. When you start to post on socials, promote yourself as a UGC creator and send off a few pitches, some brands will likely offer agreements whereby they send you free products for you to create content about them. This is a great way to gain experience and open further opportunities for paid brand collaborations.

How do I pitch my services to brands?

My advice for pitching to brands is not to sell yourself, but focus on what you can do. Give a quick introduction to yourself, then plant the seeds, pitch specific ideas for the brand and let them know the ideas and vision you have for their content. Do your research and drop some examples you have come up with.

Work out how you’ll communicate the brand through your content and figure out the pain points in order to explain how you’ll convince consumer to purchase or adopt the product. A great place to start is Snipfeed's Smart Outreach Tool which uses AI to generate the perfect pitch.

How do I negotiate fees and rates for my content?

I have been through some evolution since I started - if I was getting offers for $100 for content packages, I was happy and willing to do anything, as long as it was a new opportunity. Now, I’m breaking down the costs of each piece of content the brand is asking for me.

Things to keep in mind:

  • When a brand asks for content for ads - remember they will ask for several variations, and therefore ask for raw footage. They can repurpose this footage in any way they see fit.

  • Make sure your rates reflect this and consider your usage rights (the brand’s ability to use it across social content, ads, website content, etc).

  • Charge a certain percentage across your services to allow for extra hooks and variations of your content.
